On Tuesday, June 30, 2026, Stolpersteine were laid in front of the house at 19 Goethe Strasse in Hannover where Julius Blumenfeld and Dina Heiser lived and had their butcher shop. The laying of the Stolpersteine in the city is the work of the ZeitZentrum Zivilcourage. After the greeting by director Dr. Jens Binner, the Blumenfelds’ great grandnephew Steven Bloomfield (USA) spoke about having known two of Dina’s and Julius’s children, Ilse and Werner, and the meaning of the Stolpersteine for him. Richard Bloomfield (CH), another great grandnephew, read a prayer for Dina and Julius and all the victims of the Shoah. Jim Bloomfield (USA), Steven’s brother, had also traveled from the US to take part in the ceremony. After the workers from the City of Hannover placed the Stolpersteine in the pavement, flowers were laid by the family and people from the ZeitZentrum Zivilcourage.
